The surviving members of Gwar are thanking fans for the outpouring of support they've received in the wake of frontman Dave Brockie's sudden death late last month.

The group posted their video statement on Thursday, and also announced the formation of the Dave Brockie Foundation.  The charity fund is meant to encourage promising artists in the fields of music, film, literature, and all visual arts who cannot find funding through mainstream channels.  At the same time it will also strive to catalog and preserve the vast collection of Brockie's own work.  More information and details about making donations can be found at Gwar.net

The band is also inviting fans to attend the public memorial for Brockie ahead of this year's annual Gwar-B-Q.  The event is scheduled to take place August 15th in Richmond, Virginia.

Brockie was found dead in his Richmond apartment on March 23rd. Police are still waiting on the toxicology report to determine the cause of his death.  Dave Brockie was 50 years old.
